<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:left;"><span><strong>SPEAKER DAPHNE JOCHNICK<br />
<span style="font-weight:normal;"><span>For the CCOG </span><span>November 20 </span><span>meeting, Speaker Daphne Jochnick. She spent from Aug. 2006 through Sept. 2007 working with organic farmers in Tanzania, as a Sustainable Agriculture Fellow for Global Service Corps.</span></span></strong></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span>She was not there as an agricultural expert, but as someone to assess and facilitate the Sustainable Agriculture program, which at the time was five years running.  Her job took her into the field with the (Organic) Bio-Intensive Agriculture trainers to discuss with the</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span>farmers what was working and not working about the program.  Together they made efforts to take the program forward.  In the process of her work Daphne came into contact with Tanzanians and Kenyans on the forefront of the Organic Agriculture movement in East Africa.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span>Her talk will include the following topics:<br />
The connection between Sustainable Agriculture and the AIDS epidemic.<br />
Why groups like GSC promote organics in Tanzania. See calendar for event details.</span></p>
