THANKS
Thank you very much to Kevin and Nancy Minnigirode and Frank and Judy Ciccone for showing their gardens.
GARDEN CLEAN UP TIME
It’s time to begin cleaning up our gardens. Compost the finished plants and then cover the soil with mulch or straw. Alternatively, spread manure or compost, work this in and seed a cover crop. For details see cleanup details

SPEAKER DAPHNE JOCHNICK
For the CCOG November 20 meeting, Speaker Daphne Jochnick. She spent from Aug. 2006 through Sept. 2007 working with organic farmers in Tanzania, as a Sustainable Agriculture Fellow for Global Service Corps.
She was not there as an agricultural expert, but as someone to assess and facilitate the Sustainable Agriculture program, which at the time was five years running. Her job took her into the field with the (Organic) Bio-Intensive Agriculture trainers to discuss with the
farmers what was working and not working about the program. Together they made efforts to take the program forward. In the process of her work Daphne came into contact with Tanzanians and Kenyans on the forefront of the Organic Agriculture movement in East Africa.
Her talk will include the following topics:

Why groups like GSC promote organics in Tanzania. See calendar for event details.
